We are a Part 61 Flight School
Just what does that mean?
Well, there are two types of flight schools catering to primary general aviation needs.
One is referred to as a certificated "part 141 school" and the other as a "part 61 school". The "141" school is very structured to ensure continuity of training. The "61" environment has less formal structure and consequently offers greater flexibility in scheduling. Both schools can provide quality training. Visit http://www.faa.gov and research the section regarding training.
Everyone wants to know how much and how long???
Well, the answer is - it depends!
If you can fly 3-4x a week, you can probably finish in less than 3 months (in the minimum amount of time required) and spend somewhere around $7,000. Flying often is the most efficient way to build confidence and your skills.
But if your like most of our students, your schedule only allows you to fly once a week, then plan on 9-12 months of training and budget in the neighborhood of $8,500.
Have you heard of a FAR/AIM?
This book combines the Code of Federal Air Regulations with the Aeronautical Information Manual. Find the information you need regarding specific knowledge and skill areas for the requirements of a private pilot certificate outlined in Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61, subpart E. You might as well purchase one, start reading and notating it as you'll need to have a current edition with you for the check-ride.

Pilots must possess a valid medical certificate in order to exercise the privileges of their airman certificates. The periodic medical exam required is conducted by a DME, (designated aviation medical examiner). They are physicians with a special interest in aviation safety and have training in aviation medicine.
